About this Series:
The COVID-19 pandemic has shed light on the inequities across many areas in our society including health care, research, policy, and essential community services. Although data that separates Pacific Islander numbers from the general population is limited, the states and counties that are reporting this data show Pacific Islanders are disproportionately affected by COVID-19—with some regions seeing rates of infection up to five times that of white people.
Intended Audience:
Pacific Islander individuals, families, and community members navigating the constantly changing environment amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Pacific Islander-serving organizations and other allies (e.g., researchers, educators, health and human services providers and caregivers, nonprofit organizations, policy and government agencies, funding organizations, and press/media) are also welcome and encouraged to join. Help us spread the word!
This podcast series was funded through a Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) Eugene Washington PCORI Engagement Award EAIN-00204.
The Pacific Islander Center of Primary Care Excellence (PI-CoPCE) is a self-governed, community-based initiative housed within the Association of Asian Pacific Community Health Organizations. PI-CoPCE is the only national health organization that focuses on and is governed by Pacific Islanders.
