COVID-19 and Other Infectious Diseases Health Equity Response Network

AAPCHO and the Pacific Islander Center of Primary Care Excellence (PI-CoPCE) developed the COVID-19 & Other Infectious Diseases Health Equity Response Network (CHERN) to proactively engage, inform, and train the healthcare workforce to prevent and control the spread of emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases.

PROJECT GOALS

The COVID-19 & Other Infectious Diseases Health Equity Response Network aims to achieve the following long-term outcomes:

Fewer healthcare-associated infections among AA and NH/PI patients and healthcare workers
Fewer community-acquired infections across public and private settings in underserved AA and NH/PI communities
Improved clinical outcomes among AA and NH/PI patients with or who are at increased risk for emerging infectious diseases.

Primary Functions of the Network	Response Network Activities
Primary care strategic planning Sharing of resources and best practices among interdisciplinary providers Increasing awareness and understanding of culturally and linguistically appropriate COVID-19 testing and treatment strategies	Physician and nurse consultation for appropriate screening, evaluation, diagnosis, management, and treatment of COVID-19 patients and persons with suspected SARS-CoV-2 infection Address questions on any COVID-19 related topic raised by health practitioners
