WASHINGTONThe Association of Asian Pacific Community Health Organizations (AAPCHO), a national organization of health centers and other community-based organizations serving Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, Pacific Islanders, and other communities today released the following statement:

President-elect Trump’s impending return to the White House and a potential unified Republican majority in Congress will shape policies and programs that have direct and real impact on the health and wellness of all communities that are underserved, including many Asian Americans (AAs), Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (NH/PIs). AAPCHO remains steadfast in our work toward health equity and a more just, inclusive, and hopeful vision of our country.

We stand ready and in solidarity with our members and other partners to protect the rights of all AA, NH/PI, and other marginalized individuals and families, especially immigrants and refugees, religious minorities, women, LGBTQI+ communities, people with disabilities, communities of color, and people who live at the intersection of those identities.

While we face a hard road ahead, AAPCHO is committed to the belief that every person in America should have access to affordable, high quality, and culturally and linguistically responsive health care. We will work with our members and partners to protect gains we have made toward healthier communities including language access, data equity, and support for community health centers. We will resist efforts that jeopardize patient access to care and undermine confidence in public health.

As an organization representing community health centers that serve anyone who walks through their doors, we stand in solidarity to continue the fight to improve the lives of the underserved and all communities.

As we prepare for the challenges of the next four years, we keep our eyes set forward. We call on elected officials to assure that every person are afforded the rights to a safe, healthy, and full life.
