WASHINGTON – Following the U.S. District Court judge’s decision in Texas v. U.S. declaring the Affordable Care Act (ACA) unconstitutional, Jeffrey Caballero, executive director of the Association of Asian Pacific Community Health Organizations (AAPCHO) released the following statement denouncing the ruling:

“We condemn the court’s ruling that puts the health and well-being of millions of Americans at risk—including Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, Pacific Islanders, and other vulnerable communities served by our member health centers who rely on the ACA and would otherwise have little or no access to care. This decision has no immediate effect on the health care law and individuals are still eligible for health insurance coverage. Open enrollment for 2019 health insurance ends today in some states, with others extending their deadline to January. We strongly encourage all to continue to apply for health insurance coverage and with our members, will continue to protect affordable, accessible, and culturally and linguistically appropriate health care for all.”
